We enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Calçotada festival at Tapas Brindisa Shoreditch last night.
The traditional Catalonian celebration marks the season of the humble calçot onion, which is harvested from January–March.
Traditionally, they are charred and roasted over coals, before being peeled and dipped in rich Romesco sauce. As well as calçots, we enjoyed a feast of roasted poussin, white and black Butifarra sausages and ‘escalivada’ flame roasted vegetables; and a vegan menu which includes grilled whole artichokes and a vegan take on Crema Catalana.
Wine poured from Porrones, Catalan wine jugs was also an entertaining highlight!
If you haven’t experienced a calçotada yet, gather your family and friends and prepare to get messy!
This traditional 3-course menu for £35 on Saturdays & Sundays (12-4pm) until March 29 Tapas Brindisa Shoreditch & Tapas Brindisa Battersea.
